Associate Professor in Social Informatics

Technical University of Denmark - DTU Informatics invites applications for a position as Associate Professor in Social Informatics. The post is available from February 1, 2012, and is affiliated with the Cognitive Systems Section of the Department. The Section for Cognitive Systems' research and teaching concern information processing in man and computer, with a particular focus on the signals they exchange - audio, imagery, behavior - and the opportunities these signals offer for modeling and prediction. The position will have a strong focus on quantitative methods and modelling. The research background of the applicant should be within modelling of complex networks in the context of social interaction and social media. Special emphasis is on expanding current research in the following fields:

  • Structure and dynamics modeling of social networks.
  • Structure and dynamics modeling of social media.
  • The role of affective dimensions of social interaction.

The successful applicant is expected to participate in departmental teaching at Bachelor-, Master- and PhD-level. Bachelor courses are taught in Danish, other courses in English. Applicants must

  • hold a PhD degree (or equivalent) in a relevant area as well as academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding an Assistant Professorship;
  • document didactic/pedagogic training.
