Our society is changing dramatically due to the recent development of a worldwide network and very large databases. The main objectives of this department are to conduct research and education for analyzing a society with such dynamic information and designing social information systems. E-commerce, digital libraries, environmental observation, bioresources, disaster prevention and medical information processing are among our most important fields of application. This also includes network security and intellectural property.
