The Internet Interdisciplinary Institute is the research institute of the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (Open University of Catalonia, UOC). The UOC is a 100% internet-based, fully accredited university operating from Barcelona and serving over 40,000 students worldwide. The IN3 conducts cutting-edge research on the interaction between information and communication technologies, society, economy, and culture. The IN3 is located in Barcelona and is led by Professor Manuel Castells, alongside distinguished faculty. The IN3 offers the PhD on the Information and Knowledge Society programme and is home to the E-Learn Centre: Innovation and Research in E-learning. It also receives a number of Visiting professors and Visiting scholars every year.
