Library Science

The field of Library and Information Science seems to be growing very fast. The library science is developing in close connection with information science. The traditional view on the librarianship was closely related on good knowledge about books, but today is beside that very important also that librarians are able to find relevant information in information overflow that is around us. The librarianship is today viewed as the management and dissemination of information and knowledge to meet the needs of a global society.

Many Universities have a program called Library science. Goals and missions of these programs differ from one to another, but they have many things in common. Students get knowledge from many fields of science like: Leadership and Management, Information Systems, Information Services, Knowledge about Researches. The programs try to advance students in the profession and practice of librarianship and to prepare them for careers in the field of information and library science.
